How CompassChart works
CompassChart helps you figure out where to go when you need medical care in Japan — the right clinic, English support, costs, and the local rules. It's run by a doctor, and it's free.
Who it's for
Foreign residents and visitors in Japan who aren't sure how the medical system works — students, workers, families, and travelers.
How it works
1. Tell us, or read a guide
Read a guide here, or message us on LINE with your symptom and area.
2. We point you the right way
We suggest the right kind of clinic — checking English support, insurance, and whether a referral is needed.
3. Go prepared
You arrive knowing what to bring, the likely cost, and the local 'rules' — no nasty surprises.
How much does it cost?
FreeCompassChart is a free service. If anything ever costs money, we'll always tell you clearly first.
Who runs it
I'm a doctor in Tokyo (internal medicine). I built CompassChart because too many people lose time and money in Japan's medical system — sent to the wrong place, surprised by fees, unsure whether English is really spoken. Here I give navigation and general information, not a diagnosis or a substitute for seeing a doctor. I'm independent and don't sell clinic rankings. I'm keeping my name private for now, but everything here is written by a practicing doctor.
