Getting started
Not an emergency? Call in the morning and time your visit
For a non-urgent problem, timing matters in Japan.
Practical tips
- Call in the morning when possible. Clinics fill up, and same-day slots go early.
- Watch for lunch breaks and closed days — many clinics close midday and one weekday, plus weekends.
- Note the reception cut-off, which is often before the closing time.
- Many clinics now offer online booking — check the website.
- For a chronic or ongoing issue, booking ahead beats walking in.
- Not sure which nearby clinic is open now or has short waits? Ask us on LINE.
When to switch gears
If a non-urgent problem suddenly worsens — high fever that won't drop, severe pain, trouble breathing — don't wait for morning. Seek care, call #7119 if unsure, or 119 for emergencies.
General information, not a medical diagnosis. Emergencies: call 119. Unsure: #7119.
