Got a cold? You probably don't need ENT or a throat scope
Many people think a cold means going to an ENT clinic (耳鼻咽喉科) and having a throat fiberscope. For an ordinary cold, that's usually not necessary.
What's usually enough
For a typical cold, a doctor can assess you with a few questions (when it started, your symptoms, any fever) and a look in your mouth and throat. That's generally enough to guide care — and a regular internal medicine clinic (内科) can do it.
When ENT does make sense
See ENT (耳鼻咽喉科) for problems that are specifically ear/nose/throat and persistent or severe — for example, a sore throat so bad you can't swallow or breathe well, ear pain or hearing changes, ongoing sinus trouble, or a hoarse voice that won't go away. A scope is used for a specific reason, not for every cold.
